First arriving at the ball, I'm astounded by it all.

Gathering round us in the castle, orphans and lonely ones stop to stare.
I know what's to come, but until then I will act as half of the pair.
The ashes suddenly then ignite. Glass slipper melts away; and then the two unite.

Still, you hold me close as I whisper farewell.
Spiralling my soul to hell, 12 'o clock triggers the bell.
I don't want to believe it, but I can't fight this spell.
Your eyes are burning bright; it's the end of the night.

Instantly if acting on instinct, scarlet sputters out from your heart.
Then it all dawns on me that I had always known; this would happen from the start.
